Has Christ Washed You?

John 13:8 “Jesus answered him, ‘If I do not wash you, you have no part of me.'”
Now Jesus was teaching us a few great lessons here. First He was teaching us that we must serve others if we seek to be like Him, for if the Master Himself served His own creation, how much more ought we to serve Him by serving others.
He taught us humility by girding Himself with a servants towel and washing the feet of His creatures. He, who is the Great King of the universe, whose name every creature will bow to one day, set aside His crown and went to His knees to wash the feet of men.
But the point I want to address today is the fact that Jesus told Peter that unless He washed him, Peter had no part of Him. This is a very serious statement and worthy of much meditation; for unless you allow the Lord to wash you clean of your filth, He is not then your Lord.
There are many in our time who profess to know Christ, yet are very content with allowing lust or selfish living to remain in their lives. In fact, not only do they allow curtain sins to remain in their lives, but they have no plans of trying to remove them.
This is a very dangerous place to be, for unless you allow Jesus to cleans you and make you holy, you have no part of Him. For He is holy, and He commands His own to be holy. If there is practiced sin in your life, He expects you to cut it off and cast it from you. If there is still self will in your heart, you must nail it to the cross and follow Jesus, or you have no part of Him.
What a dreadful Day it will be for some when we stand before the great white throne of judgment! For many will expect to be recognized by Christ Jesus, but will hear those terrible words, “depart from Me you workers of lawlessness, I never knew you!”
I plead with all who will hear today, let Jesus wash you clean, submit to His ways, for His yoke is easy and His burned is light, if only we would surrender to Him. Let Him wash you with clean water, and you will be cleansed; let Him take your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh, that you may have life!
Love in Christ, Jonathan Ball
