What do you more than others?

What do you more than others?

Matthew 5:46, 47

“For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?”

If you are a Christian, Jesus requires more of you than from others. For the world loves those who love them, but we are commanded to go further; we are told we must love those who hate us, pray for those who spitefully use us, and bless those who curse us. For if we do no more than those who are in sin, what difference is there?

As children of God we should do more than others because we have proclaimed that we are born again, and that God’s Spirit lives in us. Therefore, if God who is holy, righteous and good, lives in us, how is it that we can still act like the world? Our life must stand out as different, separate, and holy (2 Corinthians 6:17). When the world teaches to be prideful, we must be humble, when the world says to love those who love us, we must love those who hate us, and bless them. For the LORD Himself is good to all, even to blasphemers and haters of God.

We must do more than others because we have proclaimed to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14, 15). For the world is in darkness and must look to us for the way, but if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is your darkness (Matthew 6:23)! What a betrayal to proclaim we know the way and yet show no one!

So please, if you say that God has saved you and made you a new creation, let it show in your actions. Love people more than is possible for the world, pray without ceasing, forgive continually, do more acts of kindness than those without God, even to your enemies, show mercy to all, and live in holiness, being perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. For the world does not have power to live right, but you have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11), therefore you can and must do more than others do.

Proclaiming the Gospel of Everlasting Life!

Proclaiming the Gospel of Everlasting Life!

Mark 16:15

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’”

We all have many ideas about Scripture and how we think it should be walked out, but what we need most is to learn what Jesus did and follow in His footsteps. There are different ministries, a diversity of gifts and activities, but the same Spirit works them all to further God’s kingdom on earth (1 Corinthians 12:4- 7). Whatever area God has called a person, we must all work together to fulfill the Great Commission.

The other day as the Lord led me to go preach the gospel in Huntington, I saw a big group of Christians huddled together near where I was. They were part of an outreach and all had the same shirts on. As I was preaching, I decided to stop and speak to them to explain myself, for I know what the modern Church thinks of such speaking. It is often looked at as judgmental and unloving, and I agree some preachers are, but not all. So I explained myself and took them through Scripture to show them why I preached this way. Then I asked them for prayer and continued preaching.

So the question is: is it Biblical to preach outside and out loud, or is it unloving? The answer is not in how we feel about it, since our finite thinking is not wise, but to see what God tells us in His infinite wisdom. The world “preach” in the Greek is kērussō and it means: To herald (as a public crier), especially divine truth (the gospel): to proclaim, to preach, to publish.

Now this is wonderful news as an evangelist, because this is what God has called me to do. It literally means to proclaim praise or announce a message loudly or in a public way, to be a public crier! So God’s command here is to publicly and loudly proclaim the gospel to every creature. God’s word confirms this through the prophets of old who would elevate themselves and proclaim God’s word to the people. Scripture also commands us to proclaim from the rooftops what was told you in secret (Matthew 10:27). Even on the day of Pentecost, Peter preached an open air sermon that lead 3,000 to Christ! Lord let it be!

So, my friends, if you have been called to this blessed task, let none discourage you, but press on! Your feet are beautiful to God and one day you will see the fruit of your labor. The gospel you bear is the most precious message of all eternity! And, brother or sister, if your calling is in another area of ministry, please support your fellow soldiers, for they are doing God’s will. Pray for them and do not reject, for they, like you, are obeying the command of the Master.

Rebel

Rebel

Romans 12:2

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

We live in a world that goes with the flow, and there are few who like to swim upstream. I have noticed by witnessing to many people that most just want to fit in and be accepted by others, so they follow the trend. The problem with this is that the worlds influence comes from the devil who is the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), so that the world is under his sway to do his will, even without knowing it (1 John 5:19).

But God calls us to rebel against the ways of the world, and to stop doing what everyone else is doing. We are called to “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” Be a rebel and read your bible, because very few people do it. Rise up against pornography, worldliness and immorality, and chose to go against the tide by being pure and holy unto God. When the world says hate, you love; when the world says hold a grudge, you forgive.

The world likes to think they are tuff but by following the sinful trend of society, but they are actually being cowards, and cowards will end up in hell according to Scripture (Revelations 21:8, 9). If you want to be tuff, if you want to be a real man or woman, then step up and live for God even if you’re the only one doing it. Be a leader, and people will follow you.

While the world lives on TV and video games, you feed on God’s word and prayer; while the world lives in a lackadaisical state of apathy and comfort, you live with a spirit of urgency, fighting the spiritual war that is raging in the unseen world. While everyone wants to please his fellow man, you seek to please the Living God with whom you will stand one Day and give an account of your life. Fear Him and do His will. Love Him with all your heart and abandon your love for sin.

God’s eyes run to and fro on the earth, seeking to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to Him. Let Him find your heart faithful, my friend, and He will fill you with power to live for Him!
