Buy the Truth and sell it NOT!

Buy the Truth and Sell it NOT!
Proverbs 23:23
“Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding.”
We are counseled to pay the price for truth, and once we have it we must not compromise it for anything! In a world that loves and believes a lie, the price for truth is quite costly, and most are not willing to pay it. ”You mean I have to sacrifice my deceitful sin for truth? No, no, I want none of the sort!” such are the thoughts of the world, for the light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. (John 3:19)
Although the price is costly, it is worth every penny. For what is more precious than wisdom, understanding, and truth… truth which can set us free (John 8:31, 32)? For flesh, blood and worldly possessions cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 15:50), but the revenue of wisdom and truth will follow us into eternity! Hallelujah!
Winston Churchill said, “Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.” Take a look at Pilate, who asked, “What is truth?” During that time he realized the truth of who Jesus was, shown by his desire to release Him (John 18:38); also defending the statement he wrote, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews (John 19:19- 22).” He knew Jesus was the King, but what caused him to sell the truth? It was the fear of man. For the fear of man is a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord will be safe. (Proverbs 29:25)
So in a time when truth is being compromised on the right hand and on the left, we must stand our ground! We must hold our course and follow Jesus till the end. Stand even if you feel no one else is standing with you; for the Lord has His remnant, and you are not alone. You will be opposed, you will suffer reproach as an evil doer, you will even lose friends, but you will please the Lord greatly; for His eyes run to and fro across the earth, seeking to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to HIM! (2 Chronicles 16:9)
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!” Ephesians 6:10
With love in Jesus Christ, Jonathan Ball
