Do You Know Him??

Do You Know Him??

Psalms 146:1, 2

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”

When you hear the name Jesus, how does it make you feel? Does it bring no joy to your heart whatsoever, or does it flood your soul with gratitude because He, the King of glory has saved you from your sins? Tonight I urge you to examine your own heart to see where you stand with God.

Now, we are not discussing religion this evening, for there are tens of millions of pious believers on the earth today, strictly following the rules of their gods, but they do not have eternal life. No, tonight we are talking about, “DO YOU KNOW GOD?!” Jesus Christ proclaimed that, “this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent (John 17:3).”

Jehovah does simply want us to follow a bunch of rules, but wants to have fellowship with us, and to give us the life that is in Him! He wants to become one with us in spirit and dwell with a holy people for all eternity. Every good gift has come from Him; oh, do you love Him tonight? Does His presence mean anything to you? Do songs of praise rise up in your heart when you meditate on His great mercy toward such sinners?

I inquire of you this evening to examine your own heart, and consider if you see any of these evidences in your own life to confirm that you know the Lord of glory. One of the greatest signs of a believer should be a humble gratitude towards Jesus Christ because they have realized the depth of their own wretchedness, and in turn have seen the abundance of grace that Jesus has given them at the cross. Anyone who can take the topic of Jesus as a light thing should strongly consider why. Your attitude towards the One who gave His life for you should be the same as it would towards someone who pushed you out of the way of a bus, losing their own life to save yours. You would not feel “whatever” towards that person.

Do you have a deep love for the brethren and desire to fellowship with those of kindred spirit, or would you rather mingle with the world? For “we know that we have passed from death to life because we love the brethren (1 John 3:14)”. When you hear of His wonders at work in the earth, like Muslims being converted through visions of Jesus, does your heart rejoice? Are you brought to tears at the testimony of His faithful martyrs? When you hear a Spirit filled message from a man of God does it hit your soul like a ton of bricks? Does the message resound within you for weeks to come, God’s words working in you to transform you into the image of His dear Son? Do any of these experiences ring true in your ears?

Does it wrench your spirit when you hear others blaspheming and using as an expression of disgust the one name that is above every name, the name of Jesus? Does your heart delight in God’s commandments, or are they a burden to hear? Can you relate to the Psalmist as he cries out, “Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day (Psalms 119:97)”, or is it foreign to consider? Does your heart now love holiness and hate wickedness; has your relationship with the world, the devil and the flesh changed?? Do you grieve when you sin and hunger to be more like Jesus?

For if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, old things have passed away and behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17)!! Do you know the Savior today? Can you say Christ is mine and I am His? If not, fall on your knees tonight and do not rise until you know He has saved you. He is waiting for you to turn to Him now!

Tithing- the Final Frontier

Tithing- The Final Frontier

“It has been said that the wallet is the ‘final frontier.’ It is often the final area to be conquered- the last thing that we surrender to God. Jesus spoke much about money. He said that we cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24). ‘Mammon’ was the common Aramaic word for riches, which is related to a Hebrew word signifying ‘that which is to be trusted.’ In other words, we cannot trust both God and money. Either money is our source of joy, our great love, our sense of security, the supplier of our needs- or God is.

When you open your purse or wallet, give generously and regularly to your local Church. A guide to how much you should give can be found in the ‘tithe’ of the Old Testament: 10 percent of your income. Whatever amount you give, make sure you give something to the work of God (see Mal. 3:8- 11). Give because you want to, not because you have to. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:6, 7), so learn to hold your money with a loose hand.”

Isaiah 2:11

“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.”

One of the greatest enemies of God is pride; for the wicked man in his pride will not seek God, and He is in none of his thoughts (Psalms 10:4). Man enters this life through no authority of his own, and becoming aware of himself he lives out his life as if he were god, arrogantly rejecting submission to the LORD of all creation. The little being says, “I don’t need God!” and yet on the day he dies he will have no power at all!

Oh foolish little man! Seek God! For you could not even breath unless God granted you air, and the body you now use to defy Him is not your own. If the God that you reject did not instruct your heart, it would not beat! Unless He had written the 3.1 billion letter code book called your DNA you would not have eyes at this moment to read my words, nor ears to hear the sound of your friends, nor the ten thousand taste buds to enjoy your next meal! On the Day of Judgment, the LORD alone will be exalted, but the prideful man will be brought low.

Let us humble ourselves today and take our rightful place as the creature, not the Creator. Let us submit to the Almighty God of the universe, and He will give us grace through His Son Jesus Christ. Blessed be His name.

Rejoice!!

Rejoice!

1 Thessalonians 5:16

“Rejoice always”

Paul suffered very much for the Lord Jesus and for the gospel. He was imprisoned frequently, beaten with rods, flogged, stoned, went hungry and thirsty, went naked and cold, was in danger from false believers, and on top of that he suffered daily from his deep concern for all the Churches; yet with all that suffering, he instructs others to “rejoice always!”. How can this be? How could Paul possibly rejoice while sitting in a cold prison, chained to Roman guards?

His secret was that his source of joy was not governed by the circumstances of life, which always fluctuate, but was Jesus Christ Himself, who will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). True joy comes from knowing God and being right with Him, something that no trial can ever take from us, but on the contrary, only draws the true believer closer to Him. So rejoice on, beloved brethren, and let the joy of the Lord be your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). No matter what terrible hardships this life presents to you, rejoice because your name is written in heaven (Luke 10:20), and your life is hidden with Christ in God! Hallelujah!

Idolatry

Idolatry

2 Timothy 4:2- 4

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Paul’s exhortation to Timothy was straight forward: Preach the word! Why? Because the days were coming, and today are here when people will not listen to sound doctrine. Today you can present plain Scripture to professing Christians and they will turn away their ear, instead listening to more pleasing views of God, contrary to the word. They form a god to suit themselves, a god who is ok with witchcraft and sexual immorality (Revelations 21:8), who will not judge in righteousness (Acts 17:31), who does not command us to repent (Acts 17:30), who is indifferent to wickedness (Isaiah 5:20), and who created heaven without hell (Matthew 18:8, 9). This is what the Israelites did in the wilderness, and is called idolatry. Idolaters will not inherit the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

Paul might of told Timothy to “convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and doctrine”, but if you practice this today people will say, “don’t judge me!”, and, “Jesus said to love”, completely ignoring portions of God’s word for the sake of their agenda. They claim their actions are based on love, but part of the definition of love is, “does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth” (1 Corinthians 13:6); yet they rejoice in iniquity and hate the truth, defending evil and shunning any Scripture that opposes their carnal view.

Paul told Timothy, “but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers”, and so they do, gravitating to teachers who tell them love would never correct or make us uncomfortable, who do not teach of repentance, sin, hell or judgment, but only grace, mercy and love. Yet, the Great Master Himself, because of His love, mercy and grace taught us about sin, righteousness and judgment, which things the Holy Spirit also came to convict the world of (John 16:8).

If we love God we must follow the footsteps of Jesus in His teaching, actions and words; but many feel wiser than God and chose to do it a “better” way than He. Turning their ears away from the truth, they turn aside to fables, choosing to believe the idolatrous view of Jesus, which path leads to destruction. Please, for any who will listen today: seek the Living God! Read the word and believe it, not twisting it for your own advantage. Fear God and depart from evil, and Christ will give you life! Do not let anything keep you from the truth, but submit your heart entirely to the LORD and His ways, and He will be with you (John 14:21).

The Lukewarm Church

The Lukewarm Church

Revelations 3:16, 17

“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’- and do not know that you are wretched, miserable poor, blind, and naked-“

Above Laodicea were hot springs which people traveled to for therapeutic purposes, and below the city were refreshing springs of cold water, but in the city they ran water down from the hot springs, and by the time it got there is was lukewarm and disgusting. This was symbolic of the spiritual condition of the Church; good for nothing and undesirable to Christ.

The biggest problem with this lukewarm Church is that they really did not see they had a problem. They seriously thought, “I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing”, not realizing that Jesus saw them as wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked! That is a huge contrast!

Look at the Church today: we have fancy buildings, padded pews, air conditioning, big screens, nice sound systems, programs for finances and every other thing; we have every material thing under the sun, we say, “I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing”. Yet Jesus looks at our hearts and sees a people who are consumed with comfort, pleasure, entertainment, careers, 401Ks, 5 year plans, the latest fashion; He sees our deep love for worldly entertainment which is full of violence, sex, murder and filth, all while the world around us is sinking into hell, never to escape the fierce wrath of God. Our hearts do not want to be burdened with the work of God to save the lost, for it would take too much of our time and would cause our flesh to suffer. Yet God is calling out, “who will go for Me, whom shall I send?” Do you hear His cry? Or is it drowned out by “your” life? Do you not remember that you have been bought with a price and your life is not your own? Are the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches choking out the words of Christ?

This is the most dangerous place to be, when we cannot see our true state. There are over 150,000 people who die daily, most of which do not know Christ and will go to hell for eternity. What are you doing about it? About 60% of the world does not have Bibles, evangelists or Churches to go to; they live in darkness, poverty, and hopelessness, so how can any person who claims to love their neighbor as themself just live as though the world were fine? If that is you, how does the love of God dwell in you?

The Lord is speaking to you today, but will you listen? If God is calling you, do not hesitate; give up your life and follow Him; reach the lost, help the weak, be a light to a dying world! Pour out your life as an offering to Christ and do His bidding. Otherwise, how can you call Him Lord?

As many as Jesus loves, He rebukes and chastens, therefore be zealous and repent. You will stand before Him soon, and if you live as though He has not given you a command, He will vomit you out of His mouth, and out of His kingdom forever. Please, open your eyes America!

Great is His Name!

Great is His Name!

Isaiah 45:5-7

“I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, that they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things.”

If you don’t get anything else out of this message, get the fact that the God of all creation is absolutely amazing, and there is none that compares to HIM! We sing songs that glorify Him, we speak of His greatness but we have no idea how magnificent He truly is. The mighty angels of heaven adore Him, they worship Him continually and do His bidding, waiting to obey His commands (Hebrews 1:6, Psalms 103:19- 22). Kings cast their crowns at His feet in adoration, all of their splendor is laid down before Him (Revelations 4:8- 11). If we will not praise Him the rocks will cry out; the trees clap their hands, and all of creation rejoices at His wonders (Isaiah 55:12).

There is no God but Him; He spoke and the worlds were formed, He is sovereign over all. He formed light and created darkness, He makes peace and creates calamity; therefore we should fear Him! He gives life and He takes it away, He raises up kings and humbles them (Daniel 2:20- 22). Great is His name!

Heaven and earth rejoice at the sound of His voice, the mountains tremble at His power (Nahum 1:5). We who have been born again should live a life of exalting His name on the earth, declaring with boldness His great power. Like the Apostle Peter said, “you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light! (1 Peter 2:9)” So if God has saved you, proclaim His praises; do not be ashamed! One day every knee will bow at the name of Jesus, and every tongue will confess that He is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10, 11)! Therefore choose to bow today without shame, for He is God and there is no other!
