False Grace vs Amazing Grace

False Grace vs Amazing Grace

James 4:6

‘But He gives us more grace. Therefore, it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”’

The grace of God is something so amazing and wonderful that when it is realized by its recipient, it produces a deep gratitude for the rest of that person’s life. It produces an ongoing awe as the depths of the undeserved gift continue to be revealed throughout the persons walk with the Lord. Each time the believer sees the darkness of their own sins, they are reminded of the extent to which Christ has forgiven them; any blessing received after forgiveness brings equal amazement in the fact that the Father, through Jesus Christ, has not only not-destroyed us like we deserve, but now is even giving us many good gifts from heaven, as if we had done something wonderful to deserve it. In fact, the Wonderful One is Jesus Himself, who took our place, received the wrath owed to us, and gave us all of His heavenly riches. Absolutely amazing.

There is, no doubt, a false grace that has been presented throughout history, even being mentioned by the seventh from Adam, Enoch (Jude 1:3, 4). Jude, the half-brother of Jesus, redirected his entire epistle as he saw the necessity to warn the Church of these false- grace teachers. He urged us to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints, therefore I am lead to continue exposing the false, and continue magnifying the true grace of our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I will keep it short and to the point, so I may keep your attention. What is false grace? False grace is being told that God’s sloppy love is such that He will simply forgive all of our sins no matter what we do or how we live. There are no standards or rules to abide by, we are simply ALL sinking in grace. This is just not biblical, and is a venomous fallacy. It is in songs, pulpits and books. It pollutes a person’s understanding of grace and robs a person’s fear of a holy God. The person receiving false grace feels free to live for their own will (Matthew 7:21), “falls into sin” repeatedly as a practice (as a planned event) (Galatians 5:19-21), and has no desire for holiness – without which no one will see the LORD (Hebrews 12:14). They will hear those terrifying words on the Day of Judgment: “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:21-23). Those who preach this grace have their judgment proclaimed since the beginning of creation (Jude 1:4).

True grace, which has been hijacked, is the most amazing gift anyone could ever receive, because, by its very definition, means a gift given that is not deserved. It is only given to those who humble themselves and acknowledge their sinful state, and recognize their desperate need for a Savior. God will, and wants to give this to any person who comes to this place in their heart. But He not only refuses grace to the arrogant and prideful, but even opposes them. The prideful are those who justify their own actions and do not submit to their Creator, but follow their own path.

God’s heart is that none would perish, but that all would come to repentance and faith in Jesus (2 Peter 3:9). He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 18:32). But if a person persists in their wicked ways, and reject His offer of undeserved forgiveness, then He will eventually destroy them, and that without remedy (Proverbs 29:1).

What will you choose, dear reader? Perhaps you have chosen already, and I pray it is the right choice. For the Scriptures are quite clear; God will not be mocked. We will reap what we sow. I plead with each of you, that you would turn from sin and choose the grace of God; the most priceless gift in all the universe. God will take your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. He will wash away your crimson sins and make you white as snow. He will change your destiny from an eternity in the lake of fire to an eternal abode in the heavenly’s, with all of His kingdom available to you… nay, “belonging” to you, who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:17).

What, oh what will it be??

Endurance

Matthew 24:12, 13 “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.”

Jesus promised that the world will grow darker and more wicked the closer it gets to His return. The hearts of many will grow cold, people will betray each other, even family members betraying one another; drugs, violence, lust and hate will all increase, and God will even send a strong delusion upon the earth so that those who do not want to believe the truth can hang themselves upon the gallows of deception. It is because of these things that there will be a great falling away from the faith, before the return of the King of all Kings, Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Now, although these will be days of great darkness, darker than anytime that has ever been, there is a powerful ray of hope that shines forth from the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ, “My sheep hear My voice and I know them and they follow Me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand..” (John 10:27-28). You see it was not by your power that you were born, nor by your power that you were born again. It is because of God that you were drawn to Him, it was God that intervened into your sinful life and called you.. you simply responded to His call. It was by His grace that you were saved by the faith that He gave you, and Jesus says that He is able to keep to the uttermost the life that you have entrusted to Him; no one is able to snatch you out of His hand.

With such wonderful assurance as this, we can surly have hope of enduring till the end. The key is in making sure that your heart has been given completely to your Master. For if you came to Jesus in full surrender, giving Him your life and your dreams, your heart, mind, body and soul, then when you are presented with the question, “do you also want to leave Me?” you will answer with Peter, “where else will we go Lord, You have the words of eternal life!” (John 6:68). It is to the glory of God that He leaves His children in this crooked world, so that we may endure all things, and shine as the stars of heaven, standing fast in Him and being a witness to all of His matchless power. So stand fast in His word and build your life upon the Rock who is Christ, for none can snatch you out of His hand!

True Love

True Love

1 John 4:8

“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

What is love? Today’s miss conception of love is a vise by which sinners and professing Christians may live as they please, while believing that God is ok with their sin because He is love; So let us look closely at God, who is love, to see how He lived when among us.

Jesus was moved with compassion continually, and fed the hungry, clothed the naked, cast out demons and healed the sick; all of which a Christian should practice. He spent much of His time teaching people the word, loudly no doubt because thousands of people had to hear His messages. Therefore preaching loudly in public is not hateful, unless the content and spirit of the message are hateful. Unfortunately there will always be those people who do preach with hatred, telling people that God hates them and calling them whores etc. That is a grievous evil and makes it harder for preachers of the gospel because we get judged with the same label for simply following in Jesus’ footsteps.

Does being gentle and loving mean we must always speak softly? Was Jesus loving when He called the Pharisees “sons of hell” (Matthew 23:15)? Was John the Baptist loving when he called the Pharisees a “brood of vipers” (Matthew 3:7)? Yes they were, because sometimes “open rebuke is better than hidden love” (Proverbs 27:5), and sometimes love means “pulling people from the fire” (Jude 23) as Jude puts it. Some people need a strong loving rebuke to shake them to their senses, so they may escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. This in no way gives us the license to be reckless with our words, but we must always operate in humility, being guided by the Holy Spirit.

God is patient by allowing a sinful world to continue so that some might be saved, and He is kind by warning us of judgment so we may flee from the wrath to come (Luke 3:7). Personally I have never used the severest threatenings of God’s word in the quantity that Jesus and the apostles did, maybe to my detriment (Peter 2:4- 6; Peter 3: 5-7; Rev. 21:8; Rev. 14:10, 11; Rev. 6:16; Daniel 12:2; Matt. 24:51; Matt. 25:46; Luke 3:17; Rom. 2:8, 9; 2 Thess. 1:9; Jude vs 7, 13). Perhaps I have not warned enough.

.

It is imperative that we not remove the harder things of Scripture from our messages, for in doing so we are telling God we are wiser than Him. God is holy and must punish sin, and it will be severe; just look at the cross. We must preach heaven and we must preach hell, we must tell of grace and we must warn of wrath, we must preach of righteousness and we must preach of sin, we must preach repentance toward God and faith towards the Lord Jesus Christ. In failing to do so we are being unfaithful to preach the whole counsel of God, and will have the blood of many on our hands. Fear God! If you really believe the Scriptures, you will warn people; if you don’t believe them, you will argue with those who are warning people.

In the end, the only loving thing to do, once the reality of eternity has gripped your heart and the urgency of God has been laid upon you, is to cast off your own pursuit, set aside your personal agenda and live to seek and save the lost. For if you still live in complacency, comfort and pleasure, how does the love of God abide in you?

Despised

Despised

Isaiah 53:3

“He was despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.”

Being despised is a horrible thing. It is not to simply be disliked by someone, but absolutely abhorred by them, that person or persons feeling deep repugnance towards you; they hate, detest, loathe and abhor you. This is a position that none of us, I suppose, want another to feel towards us. Yet, when the Creator of this world took on flesh and dwelt among us, we, His creation, despised Him. How much did sinful man hate their Creator? Just look at the cross.

God in His wisdom is so profound! He came into the world and did everything completely backwards from the way the world operates. The world says to have the very best, to pursue riches and fame, so Jesus was literally born in a barn; the world says to be full of pride in our own greatness, but Jesus came in humility, coming from Nazareth and working as a carpenter; the world says you must be successful, but Jesus chose fishermen, tax collectors and prostitutes to be His disciples. Jesus was totally despised by the religious leaders of that day, who constantly tried to trip Him in His words, plotting to kill Him 10 times in the gospels. In the end, they nailed Him to a tree. This depravity is at the core of every human heart, and must be crucified itself so we can be made new.

Jesus willfully endured the very thing that we all fear: rejection. As the world is seeking honor and acceptance from one another, Jesus chose the path that would lead Him to be rejected. While millions around the world strive at any cost to be men pleasers, Jesus chose to be detested by men so He could please the Father. Jesus came to His own, but His own did not receive Him (John 1:10, 11), but on the contrary, we hid our faces from Him and esteemed Him not. In His unfathomable love He endured it all; for our sake, and for the sake of His great name.

The love of God is past description, past words, and without condition. The depths that the Almighty went to so He could redeem sinful humanity are mind blowing; but most of the world doesn’t give it a second thought. We will give hours of devotion to created things, to smart phones and TV screens, to money making and beautiful cars, to chasing girls and admiring our own wonderfulness, but never give an hour’s thought over the blood that was shed on Calvary. What a crime; what a great felony against the Judge of the Universe. Let us fall on our knees today and repent of our vanity, giving God the affection due Him. His love awaits all those who receive Him with a humble heart.

In love, Jonathan Ball

John 1:11, 12 “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name”

Insatiable

Insatiable

Proverbs 27:20

“Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.”

Imagine Hell for a moment, as awful as that is. The Scriptures say that “Hell from beneath is excited about you, to meet you at your coming” (Isaiah 14:9); it will take all that come to it and even today it is swallowing people by the thousands. 150, 000 people die every 24 hours and most of them are not right with God. That should break your heart.

Therefore, Hell is never full, never satisfied, always seeking more victims, more souls to torment forever. Destruction never rests. Just look around you, watch the news, listen to the radio and you will see that destruction is rampant. Remember all the school shootings, the over populated prisons, the 157 million babies that have been destroyed in the womb, world war 1, 2 and every other war, the destruction of marriages through divorce, the mass drug and alcohol use that destroys the mind, the terrorists who cut off heads and run planes into towers, the huge pornography industry that destroys relationships and perverts the mind, the destructive words people speak to each other, tearing them down with their tongues, and the deadly behavior of the billions of hearts that refuse to submit to their Maker. There is no end to destructions apatite, it is insatiable.

This unquenchable thirst also abides in the heart of man. He looks at what he does not have and longs for it with passion. This greed compels him to do all he can get what he wants, and once he has it he longs for more. Although pleased for a moment, he is never satisfied, never content, always needing more. He gets the perfect woman, until another woman walks by. He leaves the one for the other, but still is not content. His cravings take him deeper into sin, driving his life into further depravity. He gets money but needs more, must have more. He gambles, he steps on people at work to get their position, even dirtying their name so he can grasp what they have, but still his lust is not full. He gets the newest fad, but a newer one quickly takes its place and once again he is driven for more. His life is a chasing of the wind, a grasping of oil. He will never have enough and his ravenous greed will lead him to the pit of hell. Beneath the earth, hell is moved with excitement for his arrival. Is this you my friend? Do you still lust for the world, or have you been born again?

John 3:3 “most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

World Religions

World Religions

Romans 10:3

“For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.”

If you have ever wondered why there are so many world religions, there is your answer.  The world will not submit to God’s way and therefore goes about trying to establish their own righteousness, which is called “self- righteousness.” That is why there are so many religions, each with some form of “goodness” about them, but each denying the truth that is in Jesus Christ.

The movement today says that we should coexist, and many “Christians” are falling into the philosophy that people from every religion are following Jesus because they are doing good works, believing that although they do not know His name, they are hearing “the voice” that tells them to do good, and in obeying the voice are actually following the Lord. While it is true that God is drawing people out from every religion to Himself, it is not possible to remain in another religion (which teaches false doctrine about Jesus) and say you are following Jesus.

As Romans 10:3 plainly shows us about Israel, we can see that it is exactly what the religions of the world do, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and therefore not submitting to it, go about trying to be good on their own merit. It has a sense of goodness about it but is really rebellion to God, putting Him aside and saying, “I can do this myself.” But as the prophet Isaiah said, “All our righteousnesses are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6), for if we do not allow God to cleans our hearts from sin then our good deeds are an attempt to bribe the Judge of the universe.

In studying what world religions believe, you will find that each one changes the nature and Deity of Jesus Christ, who Himself declared that He is the way, the truth and the life, and that no man comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). Unless a person submits to Him, no matter how religious they are, they are seeking their own righteousness. For, “whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son” (2 John 9).

It comes down to this: either we trust in the merit of Jesus, accepting that it was His work on the cross that saves us, or in pride we reject His sacrifice and trust in our own good works to save us, which is futile. As the prince of preachers (Charles H. Spurgeon) once said, “Nothing can damn a man but his own righteousness; nothing can save him but the righteousness of Christ.” Please, trust in Jesus today while you live!
