Sodom and Gomorrah

Sodom and Gomorrah

Jude 7

“As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”

Recently I have been very disgusted to hear that people are now pushing our nation to tolerate and accept pedophilia. Pedophilia is a heinous crime and should be strictly punished, as children are being victimized and manipulated for the perpetrators selfish pleasure. Below is a video on Hulu promoting child/ adult relationships; the whole video is geared towards causing the viewer to accept the concept of a boy marrying a grown man:  https://vimeo.com/user21156251/bravestknight. There is actually an organization called N.A.M.b.L.A. that fights to change the laws that hinder adults from sexually assaulting children. Another article shows that even Cambridge University in England has allowed the promotion of such wicked views to infiltrated their establishment: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/10948796/Paedophilia-is-natural-and-normal-for-males.html

It should make everyone of you sick, and the promoters of such should be thrown into jail; but sadly, the way our country is going, people like me will probably sooner be thrown into jail for speaking truth while pedophiles are cheered on for coming out of the closet with their brave new concepts.

Folks, this is the end result of the satanic spirit of tolerance in our world. When we are pressured to just accept every form of sin, then the floodgates are opened and every filthy desire of hell comes rushing through. When God’s moral standards are rejected, even by professing Christians, and when those who stand on moral absolutes are considered “haters” for actually saying something is “wrong”, the result is that “all goes”! Since there are no boundaries, America praises a man for becoming a woman; since there are no moral standards, America defends the right for a man who is gender confused to use a woman’s restroom regardless of the danger that a little girl might be in there. Since God’s ways are thrown out, the 6,000 year old definition of married is redefined, allowing men to marry men and adopt little boys. And now, since the walls are down and everyone is tolerant of everything accept truth, the devil will drive home his perverted agenda and the world will simply accept it; even protect and promote it. Lord have mercy on us.

I must proclaim that God is holy! He will by no means clear the guilty (Numbers 14:18). Drunkenness is wrong, homosexuality is wrong, hatred is wrong, fornication and lust are wrong, idolatry, covetousness, greed, selfishness, not loving God,  not loving others are all wrong, and those who practice such things will by NO MEANS enter the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9- 11; Galatians 5:19- 21) . Unless the world repents it will perish (Luke 13:3). The stench of perversion in Sodom and Gomorrah finally reached heaven and God had enough; He rained fire and brimstone upon them all as an example to us of His holy retribution. Even today you can find balls of sulfur lodged into rocks in the vicinity of Sodom and Gomorrah, more condensed (98% sulfur) than any other place on earth. Billy Graham’s wife, after reading her husband’s book about the conditions of America, proclaimed that if God does not judge America soon then He owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.

God must punish sin, and He will. Look at the bloody cross and realize that that was supposed to be you; it was supposed to be me. Because Jesus died, you can be forgiven. Because He was raised, you can live forever. Please, let us all turn from the wickedness of this life and put our faith in the Lord Jesus. Let us follow Him down the difficult path of righteousness while the world continues loving evil. The wrath of God is coming and will be executed against all unrighteousness and ungodliness of men, consuming them with unquenchable fire. Throw yourself upon the mercies of Christ today, and escape the judgments to come. God is rich in mercy and is willing to wash your sins away, never again to be remembered.

Surrender to the God that made you, the God who gave you life. His hands are stretched out to you today… will you come to Him?

Perspective

Perspective

2 Corinthians 4:18

“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things that are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Things dramatically change when your perspective is different. Here is an example: someone offers you $100 million cash, the Mona Lisa painting, or a gallon of water; of course you would pick the money or the painting, valued at $780 million today. But, if you were in the middle of the Sahara desert, hundreds of miles from anything and thirsting to death, you would chose the life giving water. The other items would be worthless to you due to your circumstance.

As we look at the world around us, we see many lights, bells and whistles, temptations of every kind calling out our names. Most of the world is running after such things, building bank accounts, building dream homes and stacking up toys galore, believing that life is in the abundance of the things they possess (Luke 12:22, 23, 30). They are ignorant of the life of God, and therefore run after the only hope they see. It is all vanity, a chasing after the wind (Ecclesiastes 4:4).

We need a whole new perspective: a heavenly perspective. If all we have is this world, then let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. But when the light of God shines in our hearts, and He gives us new eyes to see, giving us an eternal perspective, then everything changes. The pleasures of this world become dim in comparison, no longer are you chasing worldly pursuits which fade away, but now you live for the will of God (1 John 2:15- 17).

Once you see that this life is like a vapor, and all its glory is like a flower that fades away, then your life’s agenda changes. As Paul said, we do not look at what is seen but what is unseen, for the seen is temporary, but the unseen is eternal. Dear reader, is this you? Has the light from heaven given you a new look on life, or do you still live for this world?

I encourage you today, while you have breath in your lungs: pursue heaven! Use your short life for the thing that counts. Use this worlds goods for the glory of God, holding possessions with a loose hand, for they will soon decay anyway. Provide yourselves a heavenly treasure that will never fade away. Do you see it? Do you see the unseen?

World Religions

World Religions

Romans 10:3

“For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.”

If you have ever wondered why there are so many world religions, there is your answer.  The world will not submit to God’s way and therefore goes about trying to establish their own righteousness, which is called “self- righteousness.” That is why there are so many religions, each with some form of “goodness” about them, but each denying the truth that is in Jesus Christ.

The movement today says that we should coexist, and many “Christians” are falling into the philosophy that people from every religion are following Jesus because they are doing good works, believing that although they do not know His name, they are hearing “the voice” that tells them to do good, and in obeying the voice are actually following the Lord. While it is true that God is drawing people out from every religion to Himself, it is not possible to remain in another religion (which teaches false doctrine about Jesus) and say you are following Jesus.

As Romans 10:3 plainly shows us about Israel, we can see that it is exactly what the religions of the world do, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and therefore not submitting to it, go about trying to be good on their own merit. It has a sense of goodness about it but is really rebellion to God, putting Him aside and saying, “I can do this myself.” But as the prophet Isaiah said, “All our righteousnesses are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6), for if we do not allow God to cleans our hearts from sin then our good deeds are an attempt to bribe the Judge of the universe.

In studying what world religions believe, you will find that each one changes the nature and Deity of Jesus Christ, who Himself declared that He is the way, the truth and the life, and that no man comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). Unless a person submits to Him, no matter how religious they are, they are seeking their own righteousness. For, “whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son” (2 John 9).

It comes down to this: either we trust in the merit of Jesus, accepting that it was His work on the cross that saves us, or in pride we reject His sacrifice and trust in our own good works to save us, which is futile. As the prince of preachers (Charles H. Spurgeon) once said, “Nothing can damn a man but his own righteousness; nothing can save him but the righteousness of Christ.” Please, trust in Jesus today while you live!

Rebel

Rebel

Romans 12:2

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

We live in a world that goes with the flow, and there are few who like to swim upstream. I have noticed by witnessing to many people that most just want to fit in and be accepted by others, so they follow the trend. The problem with this is that the worlds influence comes from the devil who is the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), so that the world is under his sway to do his will, even without knowing it (1 John 5:19).

But God calls us to rebel against the ways of the world, and to stop doing what everyone else is doing. We are called to “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” Be a rebel and read your bible, because very few people do it. Rise up against pornography, worldliness and immorality, and chose to go against the tide by being pure and holy unto God. When the world says hate, you love; when the world says hold a grudge, you forgive.

The world likes to think they are tuff but by following the sinful trend of society, but they are actually being cowards, and cowards will end up in hell according to Scripture (Revelations 21:8, 9). If you want to be tuff, if you want to be a real man or woman, then step up and live for God even if you’re the only one doing it. Be a leader, and people will follow you.

While the world lives on TV and video games, you feed on God’s word and prayer; while the world lives in a lackadaisical state of apathy and comfort, you live with a spirit of urgency, fighting the spiritual war that is raging in the unseen world. While everyone wants to please his fellow man, you seek to please the Living God with whom you will stand one Day and give an account of your life. Fear Him and do His will. Love Him with all your heart and abandon your love for sin.

God’s eyes run to and fro on the earth, seeking to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to Him. Let Him find your heart faithful, my friend, and He will fill you with power to live for Him!

What did Jesus Teach?

What Did Jesus Teach?

John 7:7

“The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.”

This is such a powerful statement from Jesus and is worthy of much meditation. Jesus was talking to His brothers, who at that time were unbelievers. To them He says the world cannot hate, because they are of the world, but the world hated Christ because what He taught pricked peoples consciences, pulled the covers on their hidden sins and demanded that each person make a choice; to pursue death or life, sin or holiness, heaven or hell. To a world that loves sin and hates the light, Jesus is the last Person they wanted to see.

Many today have a skewed view of who Jesus is and what He really taught. People believe that He is just some fluffy, lovey- dovey guy who will allow them to live in sin with no consequences. This may be caused partially by the false teachings of some who don’t proclaim the whole counsel of God, and I believe is also due to the fact that people love their sin so much that they chose to believe in an idolatrous view of Jesus because it suits their lust, even though in their spirit they know the truth; for “the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed…” (John 3:19, 20)

Jesus told us that He did not come into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him (John 3:17). Saved from what I ask you? Saved from the wrath of God (John 3:36, Romans 5:9)! Saved from sin! Saved from perishing because of sin! You see, Jesus did not come and condemn us, He came and told us that we are already condemned! Unless we know we are sick we will not see a need for a doctor, and unless you and I know we are in eternal danger, we won’t care much about the fact that Jesus died to save us.

If that fact does not carry weight in your soul, if the thought of the cross does not flood gratitude into your heart and produce a life of obedience to God, then I would examine yourself to see if you really have been saved! For once you have been convicted of the evil in your own life, then the grace and forgiveness offered by God becomes sweet to your soul! “Moreover the Law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” (Romans 5:20)

That is why Jesus was hated, because in His great love for us He first had to show us the deep darkness of our own hearts, the lust, the pride, the arrogance, the love for money, the covetousness for others possessions, the unfaithfulness of our carnal man, the hate, the self -centeredness, and the failure in every way to keep the Fathers moral standards, so that, once we are broken of the confidence we once had in our flesh, and know that we are utterly hopeless of saving ourselves, we may look to Him, the Prince of Peace, the Author of Life, who is rich in mercy, and receive from Him that which we don’t deserve; grace upon grace. For He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we, through Him might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21).

So what did Jesus teach? He taught the whole truth, in love, without compromise. You see that it is the truth in its rawest form that sets us free (John 8:21, 22). That is why Jesus told us the truth about ourselves, our fallen state, and what He was going to do to redeem us. He said He only spoke what the Father told Him to, because He always sought to please the Father, not man (John 7:16; John 12:49, 50). Paul said, “For do I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men I would not be a bondservant of Christ (Galatians 1:10). You see, when we are seeking honor from other humans we tend to water down the truth because it is offensive; we seek to sugar coat it and leave harsh things out, yet sometimes it is the harsh things that turn us to God. When you water down medicine because it is bitter, it loses some of its curing properties, and therefore you are cheating your patient of the very thing that would save their life.

Jesus spoke hard truths in John 5 and 6, and many of his disciples turned and walked with Him no more. In His own home town, His words so offended the people that they tried to throw Him off of a cliff. Along with teaching us to love one another and love God with all that we are, He also showed it by flipping tables of the crooks that were abusing His Father’s house; He rebuked Pharisees and religious leaders because they were hypocrites, mere pretenders. Jesus declared that He came to bring a sword that would divide households and loved ones. Is there a contradiction? By no means! The sword Jesus brought was the “truth” that He spoke, for the truth will either turn us to God or cut us off from Him, it forces us to take a side, it does not allow us to stay in the middle. One man might chose truth, and his wife might reject it; thus they are divided.

Therefore, let us be like Jesus, and speak only what we hear the Father say. We are not wiser than God and should never think that we must help Him by doing it our own way. Let us seek honor from God alone, which I know is very difficult, but eternally rewarding. When you stand before the throne of God on that great and terrifying Day, you will see the wonderful blessing of speaking as Jesus spoke, and doing what Jesus did.

May each of you be presented spotless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.

With love, Jonathan Ball
